About Me
Welcome and thank you for stopping by, I’m Nicola and I am a passionate Seasonal, Local Flower Grower living on the Isles of Scilly.
My love of flowers, nature and gardens started at a young age. Our Family garden in Hertfordshire was my Mum and Dad’s oasis and I remember many weekends were spent visiting garden centres or trips to Open Gardens.
I married a (then) landscape Gardener and we fell in love with the good life, a special time bringing up our two boys. Growing our own food and keeping our own Chickens, Pigs and Sheep. We have always taken pride in our various gardens and smallholdings, planting wildflower meadows, Orchards and wildlife friendly habitats. Over the years we have become more and more aware the importance of sustainablity and seasonallity.
In 2020 I joined a brilliant organisisation called Flowers From the Farm who champion british flowers and I have been a passionate obsessed flower grower ever since!
I grow most of my flowers from seeds, bulbs, corms, tubers, bare root or plug plants. Without access to a Garden Centre on the Islands, I choose products carefully that can withstand being shipped from UK cut flower and plant suppliers. I grow these plants in my Cut flower beds using the no dig method.
I am passionate about growing my flowers without the need for harmful chemicals therefore promoting biodiversity. Being mindful of natural resources, I use peat free and home made composts and natural fertilisers.
I sell my flowers on an honesty stall outside my home, selling bouquets and posies to local people and visitors to the Islands, reducing air miles. The flowers are wrapped in brown recyclable paper reducing plastic waste. Local florists, organisations, businesses and holiday home owners can buy my flowers by the bucket
The fleeting beauty of a flower is to be embraced. My flowers will have been picked at the perfect stage with longeverty in mind. My Flowers will be grown naturally, are often fragrant and more delicate than those bought from a supermarket. I hope you enjoy my flowers as must as I enjoy growing them.
